Our story
A promise, personally funded
Senator the Honourable Latrae Rahming knows what a single investment in a young Bahamian can do, because he was that young Bahamian. A mother's loan and the backing of mentors carried him from scholarship student to the Senate and into national service. This Foundation pays that investment forward, funding the entire inaugural cycle of $21,000 personally, so that not one partner dollar is needed to keep the promise.
In memoriam: Rodney Moncur
The Leader of the Women Dem
For five decades, from Black Village to the Senate, Rodney Moncur stood with ordinary Bahamians and gave voice to the women who trusted him with their struggles. This Foundation takes the name he made famous and turns it toward their economic empowerment, so the women dem do not just have a champion, but capital, credentials, and opportunity. Each year, the Rodney Moncur Legacy Award honours one Bahamian whose service to women carries that spirit forward.
